Sports Premium
At Sledmere & Wetwang Federation we have a strong belief that all children should be given the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of sports and sporting competitions and activities. We run a wide range of after-school sports activities and we employ specialist coaches to coach in curriculum time, all of whom have links to local sports clubs.
The Sports Premium funding of has enabled us to enhance this work by increasing further our participation in competitions, and allowing us to offer an even wider range of free after-school activities and an increase in coaching hours. We have also enhanced many resources. Below you can download a breakdown of our Sports Premium spending. You can also read further information about Sports Premium at the Department for Education link below.
Purpose of Funding
All children should have the opportunity to live healthy and active lives. Physical activity has many physical benefits, whilst also improving mental wellbeing. Children who participate in regular exercise are happy, confident and resilient. The PE and Sports Premium can help schools make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of Physical Education (PE) and sport that they offer. It will be used to secure improvements in the following 5 key indicators:
- Engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity.
- Profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement.
- Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport.
- Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.
- Increased participation in competitive sport
What is Sledmere and Wetwang Federation doing with the PE funding?
The total allocated funding for the academic year 2024/25 is Sledmere £16,440 and Wetwang £16,200. It is important we make the most of every opportunity and ensure our children enjoy a variety of exciting and innovative experiences linked to sport, health and wellbeing. The remaining Sports Premium budget from 2023/24 will be carried forward into the 2024-2025 academic year, which will enable us to fulfil these wishes.
