School Uniform
At Wetwang School, our school uniform is an important part of our identity. It promotes a sense of belonging, supports equality, and helps pupils prepare for learning each day.
Our approach aligns with the statutory guidance on the cost of school uniforms, ensuring that garments are affordable, durable and easily available from multiple retailers.
Our Uniform Principles
We aim to ensure that our uniform is:
- Affordable and represents good value for money, in line with the Equality Act 2010 and national guidance.
- Inclusive, suitable for all pupils regardless of background, need or ability.
- Easy to purchase, with most items available from a variety of general retailers.
- Minimal in branded requirements, to ensure families can choose where to shop.
- Supportive of sustainability, through the availability of second-hand uniform.

Branded Items
We keep branded items to a minimum to reduce cost.
The only optional branded item is a school-logo jumper or cardigan. All uniform items may also be purchased unbranded from any supermarket or high-street supplier.
This approach is consistent with statutory uniform cost guidance.
Second-Hand Uniform
We encourage the use of good-quality pre-loved uniform to support affordability and sustainability.
Second-hand uniform is available:
At school events throughout the year.
By request through either school office.
Donations of clean, good-condition uniform are always welcomed.
Jewellery, Hair and Accessories
Jewellery is limited to one pair of small stud earrings and a watch.
No necklaces, bracelets or hoop earrings (for safety).
Long hair must be tied back
Hair accessories should be small and in school colours where possible.
Outdoor Clothing
As we make full use of our outdoor learning environments, pupils should bring appropriate outdoor clothing daily (e.g., coat, hat, gloves and sunhat).
Religious, Cultural and Medical Considerations
We welcome and support adaptations to uniform for religious, cultural or medical reasons.
Please speak with the school office or SENCO to discuss individual needs.
(Our Equality and Accessibility Policies support inclusive practice.)
