Equality Information (Public Sector Equality Duty Statement)

Equality Information 2025–2026
Sledmere & Wetwang Federation is committed to meeting the requirements of the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) under the Equality Act 2010.
We aim to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations across all aspects of school life.
This statement sets out the information we publish each year to demonstrate how we comply with the PSED.
The duty is reflected within our Equal Opportunities and Accessibility policies.

Our School Community
Pupil Characteristics (summary)
Mixed-age primary cohorts across two rural village schools
Pupils with a range of SEND needs (supported through published SEND Information Report)
Small numbers of pupils from minority ethnic groups (consistent with the local rural demographic)
Pupils eligible for Pupil Premium, as outlined in the published Pupil Premium strategy
A small number of pupils with English as an additional language

How We Eliminate Unlawful Discrimination
We achieve this through:

Applying our Equal Opportunities Policy, Accessibility Policy, and Anti-Bullying, Behaviour, Safeguarding and SEND policies consistently across the federation.
Ensuring recruitment and employment processes comply with the Equality Act 2010.
Staff training on safeguarding, SEND and inclusion.
Reviewing school policies regularly through the Governing Board.
Challenging prejudicial or discriminatory behaviour immediately.

How We Advance Equality of Opportunity

Carefully tracking the progress, attendance and wellbeing of all pupils, especially those with SEND, Pupil Premium, and other identified groups.
Implementing targeted interventions to close attainment gaps.
Providing access to a broad, rich curriculum adapted for all learners, supported by the SEND Information Report.
Offering free instrumental tuition for Pupil Premium pupils.
Ensuring accessibility of buildings, information and curriculum through our Accessibility Plan.

How We Foster Good Relations

Delivering an RE curriculum rooted in Christian values while promoting tolerance and respect for people of all faiths and none.
Using assemblies, PSHE and SMSC provision to promote understanding and celebrate diversity.
Engaging with parents and the wider community through events, communication and inclusive practice.
Promoting a culture of kindness, respect and belonging.
